How to Make

1. With the rolling pin, roll out a pice of air dry clay to a 5mm thickness.
2. Trim the air dry clay into a neat rectangle measuring 7cm x 9cm. Use the cake pop stick to create small holes in each corner and one in the bottom centre of the rectangle.
3. Press the skeleton key firmly into the surface of the clay on each side in turn to create an impression of the key, remove carefully.
4. Create the indentation of the inner frame by pressing the cake pop stick into the surface of the air dry clay in order to make a neat rectangle into the centre. Set aside to dry for up to 72 hours.
5. Place the piece of lace over the surface of the remaining air dry clay and use the rolling pin to roll to 5mm thickness. The pattern of the lace will become imprinted onto the surface as the pressure is applied.
6. Carefully peel away the lace and use the heart shaped cookie cutter to cut three heart shapes from the patterned air dry clay.
7. Create a small hole in the upper section of each of the hearts using the end of the cake pop stick. Set aside to dry for up to 72 hours.
8. Once fully dry, use the ceramic paints to paint one of the hearts pink and two of the hearts blue and be sure to fully cover all visible surfaces. Set aside to dry.
9. Using the white ceramic paint, cover the whole surface of the wall hanging with a coat of paint, this will give the finished piece a glossy finish. Set aside to dry.
10. Once the base coat is fully dry, use the silver pen to paint accents to the indented areas of the surface, filing in the patterns created by the keys and the outline of the frame.
11. Once dry, use the pink Deco Pen to doodle a border around the edge of the whole rectangle, working with triangles in the corners, half circles along the edges and small dots.
12. Complete the border with the use of a blue Deco Pen to add in small dots around the pink border.
13. Write your chosen motif into the centre of the silver frame section using the black Deco Pen.
14. Cut a length of string and feed through the two upper holes in the wall hanging and knot to the desired length.
15. Cut three short lengths of string and thread through each heart in turn and secure to the lower holes in the wall hanging to finish.

Top Tip

Air drying clay can take up to 72 hours to fully dry - be sure that it has set before beginning decorating with paints.
