How to Make

  1. To make the hedgehog, cut two ‘cups’ from the edge of an egg carton & glue them together at the open side to make the body. Allow to dry.
  2. Gently squeeze one end of the body to a point to make the nose, then paint the face with a light brown shade (mix brown & white paint). Allow it to dry then add a nose and eyes with a black pen.
  3. Cut the lid from the egg carton and remove the short edges with scissors. Lay the piece flat to make a rectangle and then paint the front and back with brown paint. Allow to dry.
  4. Cut the brown rectangle into 1cm strips and use scissors to cut slits down each strip 1-2mms apart.
  5. Starting at the top of the face, drape and glue a strip across the top and sides. Trim any excess away and fan out the slitted card to make spikes. Continue gluing the strips, fanning the spikes as you go, until you have covered the whole body. Touch up any visible bare cardboard spikes with brown paint to finish and allow to dry.
  6. To make the fox, cut one ‘cup’ from the edge of an egg carton for your body and use the printed template to make the tail and face from the egg carton. Paint the body, face and tail, allow them to dry and glue them together to finish.
  7. To make the owl, cut two ‘cups’ from the edge of an egg carton and glue them together stacked end-to-end. Use the printed template to make the feathers and face from the egg carton. Paint the body, face and feathers, allow them to dry and glue the pieces together to finish.
