  1. Cut the lid off a ten-egg carton. From the base, cut out eight individual egg cups, turn them upside down, and paint them red. Paint a six-egg carton (with lid) completely red.
  2. Once dry, glue two of the upside-down egg cups on top of the lid near the back. Stick on two large wiggle eyes.
  3. Draw two black dots in front of the eyes for nostrils. Cut two 30 cm pieces of gold ribbon, curl them with scissors, and glue one to each nostril.
  4. Cut small white triangles for teeth and glue them around the lid and base edges, leaving a 7 cm gap at the front of the lower row. Cut four strips of cellophane (two red, two yellow, each 23 cm long) and glue them inside the base, so they hang from the mouth.
  5. Make a small hole in the lid, just in front of the eyes. Thread a 60 cm red ribbon through and tie a knot inside to secure it.
  6. Poke holes in both sides of each upside-down egg cup. Cut six 10 cm red pipe cleaners and thread them through the holes to link all eight egg cups in a line. Bend the pipe cleaners inside to hold them in place.
  7. Make a hole in the back of the egg carton lid. Push the front pipe cleaner from the body through this hole and bend it inside to attach the body to the head.
  8. Cut a 90 cm red ribbon. Thread one end through the hole at the back of the head and tie a knot inside. Then thread it through the holes in the third and last egg cups, tying knots at each point.
  9. Cut six rectangles (7 × 5 cm) from green, yellow, and purple card — two of each colour. Stick the top of each rectangle inside the front edge of each egg cup, cut them into strips, and curl the ends.
  10. Cut an 8 cm piece of gold ribbon. Stick one end inside the front of the lid and the other to the inside front of the base so the mouth doesn’t open too wide when used as a puppet.
