Top Tip
Instead of tying tassels to the end of the mobile you can tie beads on the ends.
How to Make
- Begin by painting a stick white. This will need a few coats. When done, set it aside to dry.
- Then, using the template, draw and cut out 4 hearts and 5 lips from water colour paper.
- Fill a tray with shaving foam, filling enough area to cover the watercolour paper shapes.
- Squirt red and pink ready-mix paint for the lips and purple and pink paint on top of the shaving foam for the hearts.
- Swirl it using a paint brush.
- Place the cut-out watercolour paper into the foam and paint mixture. Slightly push down to ensure all areas of the watercolour paper are covered.
- Take the paper out of the tray and scrape off the excess foam and paint with a squeegee or a ruler.
- Repeat until all the heart and lip shapes are marbled.
- Create 3 tassels from red wool using the steps below.
- Then, cut 4 lengths of red wool.
- Tie your lengths of red wool to the stick. One of the lengths of wool should be tied to both ends of the stick so the mobile can be hung.
- Stick a lip shape to the wool using sticky tape.
- Then thread 3 beads underneath the lips and tie a knot. Continue to alternate lips and hearts to create a pattern.
- Lastly, tie your tassels to the end of the mobile.
- Begin by wrapping red wool around your hand. Aim for15 wraps but you can always do lots more.
- Pull the wool off your hand, then thread a length of wool through the top loops. Then pull the two ends together and tie a knot.
- Carefully cut along the loops at the bottom.
- Take another piece of thread and wrap about one third of the way down and secure tightly with a knot.
- Trim the tassel.
