How to Make
- Take two wooden skewers and use cord to bind them together in the centre to form a cross shape. Add a dab of glue to the knot to make it more secure.
- Add marbling ink to a tub of water and swirl with the end of a pencil to make a pattern. Put a polystyrene ball on the end of a skewer then dip into the marbling ink. Decorate balls in various sizes, using a combination of colours. Ensure you make four extra small ones to add to the ends of your mobile.
- Once the ink has dried remove the skewers. Cut a long piece of cord, loop one end then feed this into the hole left by the stick. If you find this tricky, use the end of a skewer to push it further through. Add a dot of glue in the hole to secure. Make some star decorations by securing elastic between star foam stickers.
- Add all the planet and star shapes to your mobile, dabbing glue to the knots to secure. Add the extra balls to the ends of the mobile structure. Finally, cut a length of ribbon and loop it around the cross in the centre. Take the backing off two large foam star stickers and sandwich the ribbon in between them, close to the cross.
Top Tip
Try not to use too much marbling ink otherwise your polystyrene balls will not dry.
