How to Make

  1. Brush gold paint over the top of the box and leave it to dry. Add another coat if necessary. Brush black paint over the sides of the box and leave to dry. Add another coat of black so the box is fully covered.
  2. Cut a piece of A4 card in half along the length. Brush the card with gold acrylic paint and leave it to dry. Lightly sponge black paint over the top to make a textured pattern. Leave it to dry.
  3. Cut the painted card into thin strips (1cm), stick double-sided tape on top then wrap the strips around the box with smaller cut outs as a door and other smaller decorative details. Small pieces are easier to stick with glue.

Top Tip

To stick painted strips down the corners of the box, it’s easier to cut 2 thin pieces then stick one onto each side of the box, so they meet at the edge. A single card strip folded around the corner may start to lift off.
