Top Tip
Be careful when cutting the lino as the tool is sharp. Warm lino is much easier to cut your design into. Try using a hairdryer to heat the surface before cutting as it will offer less resistance.
How to Make
- Draw your Mother's Day motif on paper. Simple floral designs, cupcakes, hearts, or "Mum" text work well.
- Flip your sketch and transfer it to the lino block using carbon paper, or draw directly onto the block.
- Use the lino cutting tools to carve out the areas of the design that you don't want to print (negative space). Be careful with sharp tools.
- Roll the ink onto your lino block evenly using the ink roller. Ensure the ink is spread across the raised areas.
- Place your inked lino block face down on the card stock. Use a spoon to press firmly and evenly over the back of the block to transfer the ink.
- Carefully lift the block off the card to reveal your printed design.
- Allow the ink to dry completely before writing your message inside.
- Your unique, handmade Mother’s Day card is now ready to give!
