How to Make
- Trees
- Stack 2 x 15cm tissue paper squares together, fold in half, then in half again into quarters. Draw a simple leaf shape onto the tissue then cut out. This will make 8 leaves.
- Cut a pipe cleaner in half and brush it lightly with glue. Thread 2 or 3 pieces of bamboo onto the pipe cleaner. Pull the pipe cleaner so it is disappears inside the bamboo by about 5mm at one end; this makes it easier to glue onto the base. Trim off the other end of the pipe cleaner with scissors; this is the top of the tree where the leaves go.
- Brush glue onto one end of a tissue paper leaf then stick it onto the top of the tree trunk. Keeping adding more until there are 6-8 leaves stuck around the top of the trunk. Let the glue dry.
- Add a generous blob of glue into the middle of a sliced branch offcut for the base. Let the glue dry for a minute or so until it becomes tacky then press the end of the tree onto the glue. Hold the tree until it sticks.
- Fern Plants
- Stack 2 x 10cm tissue paper circles together, fold in half, then in half again into quarters. Cut towards the middle of the tissue 6 or 7 times to make a fringe around the edge. Make the cuts about 3cm in length, so the middle area stays joined. Carefully open out the tissue circles.
- Glue 3 branch offcuts together for the base then add small blob of glue on the top. Place a tissue circle onto the base, pressing down in the glued area. When the glue has dried, lift up the tissue circle into a fern shape. Stick another tissue circle on top of the first one to make a bushier shape.

Top Tip
To make a taller tree thread extra bamboo sticks onto a pipe cleaner. To make a bigger version of the fern plant, glue and stack more branch offcuts together for a base and add extra tissue circles in the middle.
