To make the clay slightly softer and to stop the clay from cracking you can add water.

How to Make

Step 1

Firstly, roll out your clay to approximately 0.5cm-1cm thick.

Step 2

Cut out a long triangle from the clay using a ruler and plastic modelling tools.

Step 3

Roll the clay from the widest part of the triangle to the narrow part. Then, shape the croissant by curving the ends.

Using a piece of thick card or thin piece of plastic create a slit on the top of the clay croissant, this is where the photo will be held. Leave a piece of card or plastic in the slot whist it dries; plastic may be more suitable for this as the card could absorb water and become soggy. Allow the clay to dry overnight.

Paint the croissant using acrylic paint, remember to paint a smiley face on the front of the clay croissant.

Lastly, varnish the clay croissant to give a shiny finish, remember to not fill the gap where the picture will slot in.
