Top Tip
You can apply glue to the edges of the hessian to stop the hessian from fraying.
How to Make
Step 1

Draw the scarecrow's face onto a natural wood circle with a pencil. Then, paint over your pencil sketch with a paintbrush and acrylic paint.
Step 2

Place two wiggle eyes onto the scarecrows face.
Step 3

For the scarecrow's hair, stick natural raffia to the top of the head.
Step 4

For the hat, cut two strips of burlap hessian roll and fold one in half vertically and one in half horizontally. Stick them together to make a hat for the scarecrow.
Step 5

Paint the burlap hessian hat in any colour you choose with a paintbrush and acrylic paint. Then, stick it to the scarecrow’s ‘hair’.
Step 6

To finish, cut a length of jute twine, tie a knot, and stick it to the back of the natural wooden circle.
