Alternatively, to baby oil you can use vegetable oil.
How to Make
- Firstly, trim 2 paper cups to approximately 6cm in height, you may need to adapt this depending on the width of your bottle.
- Then using the template, draw and cut out cup coverings and lava lamp lid from gold glitter card. Draw and cut out the circles from cardboard.
- Stick the coverings to the cups, then stick the edges of the lava lamp lid together.
- Stick the cardboard on the bottom of the cups and then stick the cups on top of each other.
- Set aside to dry.
- Fill the bottle halfway with baby oil.
- Add water until the bottle is approximately ¾ full. Remember to not fill the bottle right to the top as the liquid may spill when activated.
- Add your choice of coloured food colouring.
- Then, sprinkle iridescent glitter into the bottle. You can make a funnel using paper to help direct the glitter into the bottle.
- Place the bottle onto the lava lamp stand.
- Next, break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into smaller pieces and drop them into the bottle.
- Lastly, place your glitter card lid on top.
