Top Tip
Make the top heart thinner to give a realistic icing effect. Icing is usually thinner than the cookie base.
How to Make
Step 1

Begin by using two different sized heart cookie cutters. Cut out a large heart approximately 1cm thick and a smaller heart approximately 0.5cm thick. If you don’t have heart cookie cutters, you can use the template provided.
Step 2

Score the larger heart using a plastic modelling tool to create a textures surface. This will help the two clay hearts stick together.
Step 3

Apply water over the textured surface with a paintbrush, then place the smaller, thinner heart on top. Put the clay to one side to dry overnight.
Step 4

Paint the ‘cookie’ base a light beige/sand colour and the icing in your chosen colour.
Step 5

When the paint is dry, varnish the clay sugar cookie. Whilst the varnish is still wet, cut small sections of scoubidous strings to create sprinkles and stick them onto the icing section of the cookie.
Step 6

To finish, when the first coat of varnish is dry, apply another thick layer of varnish on top to even out the texture of the scoubidous sprinkles and to secure them in place.
