Step 1

Start with a ball of clay (the bigger the ball, the bigger the chick, so this is up to you). Begin by placing your thumb in the centre and working the clay into a bowl shape adding water where needed to smooth out the dish.

Once you have an egg shaped dish, create a little triangular beak and stick this into the bowl. Allow to dry overnight or until dry.
Step 3

Paint the entire dish yellow.

Paint the beak orange.

Add cheeks and eyes.

Once dry, varnish the dish.
