How to Make
Step 1
Roll out the clay until it is about 1cm thick.
Step 2
Use the template to cut out cowboy hat shapes from the clay with plastic modelling tools.
Step 3
Score the areas where you’ll add details to create a 3D effect. Apply clay slip, then attach the top of the hat and the hat’s rolled brim to the cowboy hat base.
Step 4
Use a straw to make a hole at the top of the clay, then set it aside to dry overnight.
Step 5
Once the clay is dry, paint it white with acrylic paint. Use a fine brush for details and a cotton bud for the cowboy print.
Step 6
Once the paint is dry, apply varnish for a shiny finish. After the varnish has dried, cut a length of jute twine and thread it through the hole so the cowboy hat can hang.
